I sent an email to Calumet photo of the week asking them what was the appeal of this photo that caused them to choose this out of all the beautiful entries to be the winner of the contest. No reply.
So maybe someone here can enlighten me. What is the artistic value and appeal of a photo of a grainy sepia toned distorted and motion blurred photo of a cropped off horse head? Cause I can deliver photos like this all day long LOL! Seriously… WHAT am I missing here? Obviously, I have no eye for art so someone please help me out here. And no offense to the photographer.
There are about four of us here that sit down and determine which photo to feature each week. This was our favorite photo that week.
Thank you for the reply. Can you tell me WHY you chose this photo above all others? What elements of this photo shined above the rest? What is the artistic appeal? Thank you.
I can’t speak for the rest of the group that helped pick it, but I really liked that it was shot on infrared film, the square composition, and the stark contrast of the sky against the foreground.
But this is all aesthetics and personal taste, so I am sure there is plenty of room for us to disagree.
